SPOON CARE:
All spoons are finished with walnut and tung oil.
Hand wash. Do not soak for extended periods. Use mild dish soap.
After the first couple of washes, the grain will be raised on the spoon. Just buff lightly with a Scotch Brite pad and give a light coat of food safe oil or butcher block oil (preferred). Repeat only when needed to condition wood.
Please enjoy your new spoon for years to come.
ROLLING PIN CARE: (There are two ways to clean a Rolling Pin)
All Rolling Pins have a light coating of walnut and tung oil.
One way to clean:
Hand wash. Do not soak for extended periods. Use mild dish soap. Use a towel to dry it thoroughly.
Once a week (or any time the rolling pin feels dry) apply a few drops of mineral oil or wood conditioner to the pin.
Second way to clean:
After use, wipe the rolling pin with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any dough. (You can also use a bench scraper or pastry scraper at a 45 degree angle to remove stuck-on food. Avoid pressing hard.)
Once a week (or any time the rolling pin feels dry) apply a few drops of mineral oil or wood conditioner to the pin.
FYI: The Kitchn (www.thekitchn.com) explains that it only takes five times in the dishwasher for a wooden spoon to lose its usefulness. This is due to the harsh combination of hot water and dishwasher detergent stripping away the natural oils of the wood.
